Our Story

Our story begins with Dr. John Morgan and a vision—a vision to make research with users faster, better, and more relevant. Dr. Morgan spent more than 20 years spearheading user research around the world for IBM, beginning with building IBM’s first usability lab in Atlanta in 1980. Over the course of his IBM career, he recognized that user research was incredibly valuable but often too slow for the business world. To improve the speed while preserving quality, he developed an efficient research process.

 

In 2001, Dr. Morgan took the next step to realize his vision by founding User Insight, a firm completely dedicated to user research for businesses. User Insight has enhanced Dr. Morgan’s research process and added ever-improving technology to give our clients quality research quickly. The result? We are not only the largest user research firm in the southeast, but Forrester Research also named us one of the top three firms in the U.S.

 

Our Secrets to Success

Dr. Morgan’s vision didn’t just happen. It is continuously achieved through our strong teams of research professionals. To every project, User Insight dedicates a full team of on-staff professionals--project managers, user experience professionals, user experience analysts, user experience designers, and recruiters. Our professionals have doctorate and master's degrees in fields such as human computer interaction, cognitive psychology, information design and technology, human factors, and anthropology. They also have practical experience ranging from 10 to 30 years in the industry.

We have completed usability tests in as little as two weeks from start to finish. In addition, we have completed multi-state user research involving more than 70 user interviews in less than eight weeks.

We also have preserved quality. Our clients greatly appreciate our ability to tie user feedback directly to the final report. Everything from the time-stamped user logs to the MindMap and Action List to our final deliverables can be traced back to DVD recordings of the actual user sessions.
